Abstract

This study explores the role of sociocultural competence in foreign language teaching and its importance in developing learners’ communicative abilities. The research focuses on the use of interactive teaching methods, such as role plays, group discussions and problem-based methods, in order to enhance students’ sociocultural awareness and intercultural communication skills. Classroom observation and analysis of students’ participation were employed as a qualitative research design. The findings show that integrating sociocultural elements into language improves learners’ ability to use language appropriately in social and cultural contexts. The results indicate that interactive methods create communicative environments. The study concludes that sociocultural competence is an important component of language learning and teachers adopt interactive approaches to enhance students’ intercultural competence.
