Abstract
The article “Advantages and Disadvantages of Distance Learning: A Pedagogical Analysis” provides a comprehensive examination of the role of distance learning in the modern education system, with particular focus on its pedagogical dimensions. In the context of rapid digitalization, the use of information and communication technologies has transformed the learning process, offering both new opportunities and serious challenges for teachers and students. The study emphasizes that distance learning increases accessibility of education, expands opportunities for independent learning, and enables flexibility for students who combine work and study. It also highlights the significance of innovative teaching methods, multimedia resources, and virtual platforms in promoting student engagement, collaboration, and creativity. However, the article also identifies the limitations and shortcomings of distance education. These include technical barriers such as lack of stable internet access, unequal availability of digital devices, and insufficient digital skills among teachers and students. Pedagogical challenges are also discussed, including difficulties in maintaining effective teacher-student interaction, reduced motivation among learners, and the lack of immediate feedback that is often essential for cognitive development. Furthermore, psychological aspects such as social isolation and decreased emotional engagement are analyzed as potential negative consequences of prolonged online education. The research underlines that the effectiveness of distance learning depends largely on the pedagogical competence of teachers, the proper integration of technological tools, and the readiness of students to take responsibility for their learning process. Based on the analysis, the article concludes that while distance education cannot fully replace traditional face-to-face teaching, it serves as a powerful complement that enriches the educational experience if applied thoughtfully. Thus, a balanced pedagogical approach that integrates traditional and distance learning models is essential for achieving quality education in the digital era.
