Methodological Challenges in Contemporary Linguistics

Contemporary linguistics is characterized by methodological diversity, interdisciplinary integration, and rapid development of new research approaches. While this diversity creates new opportunities for linguistic analysis, it also generates serious methodological challenges related to the choice of theoretical framework, research methods, and interpretation of linguistic data. The present article examines the main methodological problems faced by modern linguistics, including the conflict between formal and functional approaches, the integration of cognitive and social perspectives, the influence of interdisciplinary research, and the difficulties of combining qualitative and quantitative methods. Special attention is given to the problem of methodological inconsistency, which often arises when linguistic research is conducted without a clear theoretical basis. The study argues that contemporary linguistics requires a flexible but systematic methodological model that allows the integration of different approaches while preserving scientific reliability. The article demonstrates that the future development of linguistics depends on the ability of researchers to overcome methodological contradictions and to create unified principles for linguistic analysis.
