Abstract

Speech disorders in children are one of the most pressing issues in modern pedagogy, speech therapy, psychology and paediatric rehabilitation. This is because they directly affect cognitive development, social adaptation, academic achievement and future communication skills. This article examines the importance of early detection and differential diagnosis, as well as evidence-based corrective interventions for children with various speech impairments. Particular attention is given to the importance of identifying speech disorders during sensitive periods of language acquisition, when a timely professional assessment can significantly improve speech and psychosocial outcomes. The study emphasises the importance of a comprehensive speech evaluation that includes phonetic-phonemic, lexical-semantic, grammatical and communicative components. This enables specialists to determine the severity, aetiology and functional consequences of the disorder. Based on these findings, the article emphasises the importance of developing an individualised corrective programme that is systematic, consistent, and uses age-appropriate pedagogical strategies. It discusses the sequential implementation of corrective work through specialised methods, didactic materials, interactive exercises and assistive tools as a key factor in ensuring the gradual and accurate development of children's speech abilities. Furthermore, the article emphasises the vital collaborative role of speech therapists, educators, psychologists and parents in establishing a supportive, corrective environment in educational institutions and at home. Continuous parental involvement, reinforcement of learned speech skills and coordinated pedagogical guidance can significantly improve intervention outcomes. The findings support the conclusion that an integrated, early and scientifically structured corrective approach is critical in improving speech development, preventing secondary learning difficulties and promoting successful social integration in children.
